Several films released on Independence Day have shown varied performances at the box office. Stree 2 has emerged as a clear winner, but other films like John Abraham’s Veda and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein have also made their mark, albeit with mixed results.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Currently, Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, is making significant waves in theaters with its horror-comedy genre, achieving impressive box office figures. In addition to Stree 2, other high-profile films have also been released. Here’s a summary of their performances as of Tuesday.
Akshay Kumar has faced a series of flops recently, with the exception of OMG 2. His latest film, Khel Khel Mein, despite featuring a strong cast including Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Amy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal, and Aditya Seal, has not met expectations. The film opened with a modest ₹5.05 crore and has struggled to surpass ₹25 crore over 13 days. On its second Tuesday, Khel Khel Mein earned ₹75 lakh, bringing its total to ₹24.75 crore.
Starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, with Abhishek Banerjee in a negative role, Veda has also struggled at the box office. In 13 days, the film has only managed to earn ₹19.96 crore. On Tuesday, Veda collected just ₹26 lakh.
South superstar Vikram, known for his impressive performances, stars in Tunglaan, which was released on August 15. The film has performed better compared to Veda and Khel Khel Mein, approaching ₹50 crore in earnings. On Tuesday, Tunglaan earned ₹51 lakh, bringing its total to ₹44.01 crore.
Among the releases, Stree 2 has been particularly noteworthy, surpassing a net collection of ₹422 crore.
