In today’s times, technology is making a huge impact in our lives. It has become an essential element, and it is not limited in terms of place. It has been influencing the whole world. Technology has changed the perspective of human life and it has given a new modern way to everything. From the development of the telephone or a bulb to today’s AI (artificial intelligence), everything depends on technology.

We can totally say that human lives have become more convenient, easier and even more productive with technological advancements. One should know the fact that over 6.5 billion people use smartphones today, isn’t it insane? And, approximately 60-70 percent of the world’s population has access to the internet and uses the internet for regular work. These are just some instances of stating that technology has made an enormous impact on everyone’s life.

As we all know, technicality has modified the way we used to work, learn, play, etc. However, we cannot ignore the fact that it comes with negative instances as well. We will discuss those but let us first mention how technology is making its impact on our society, and see how our world is progressing.

As mentioned, technology has been impacting our society in various ways. It has been transforming the way us, i.e. human beings think, learn, communicate, and even work. In our opinion, it has become an integral part of our life and we cannot imagine our life without it. The most important thing is that technology and our society are codependent, i.e. they depend on each other and influence one another.

Our society and technology are connected to each other as humans keep making progress in the technical field and have been inventing things that are making life very easy, some of them are mobiles, TV, laptops, etc. We can say that technology has become a part of our lifestyle.

From self-driving cars to the development of smart cities, technological things are everywhere. Many businesses and companies are also using technology as this helps them to save their resources, reduce the waste and balance the use of energy. Let us mention some of the ways we have been using technology:

With the advancement of technology, people have started to understand things better such as cultures and civilizations. The major impact it has made by improving communication and making people accessible to each other. This has helped various families to continue their bonds with their loved ones even when they are countries apart from each other.
Even the development of IoT has made it possible to reduce the waste collection expenses with the help of these advanced technical tools.
If we have to talk about the smartphone revolution, then yes, technology has flourished this concept of cellular phones. Today, we have several types of mobile phones and these devices genuinely have made our lives easy. From clicking pictures, videos, surfing the internet to doing Netflix and chill for hours, it has made everything so accessible. Moreover, e-commerce and shopping applications are some of other influencing mediums.
Robotics and Artificial intelligence is another modern concept that has been made possible due to technology. Intelligent machines have become a part of our daily lives. AI has many positive impacts on our society but there are various negative influences as well. One of the major negative aspects is that the job opportunities are getting reduced due to AI, and there are mass layoffs which is a concern in these times. We are already witnessing people losing their jobs.
One of the important fields where technology has made its effect is the education sector. It has indeed transformed the way we use to study, e-learning has become a trend these days. Many e-learning platforms have also flourished and are making education accessible to people even in the rural areas, so we can say that it is a great advantage.
Now coming to the healthcare sector, technology has been helping to save lives. It has become very easy to recognise a disease with the help of technology, so we can say it is a boon for healthcare. Furthermore, public services are also easy to access these days through the medium of blockchain based systems, etc.
Moreover, technology is heightening the economic aspect of the world. Improvement in productivity has made the lifestyle of people really good. The advancement of 5G, autonomous vehicles, development of mRNA-based machines and vaccines are some of the key aspects that are shaping the future. Medical developments have also helped to reduce the child mortality and it improved the life expectancy as well.

Downsides to remember

Of course, these things are not all flowers, we also have experienced some negative technological impacts on society. To name some, there is no personal touch left. With the advanced communication via internet and mobile devices, the need for real-life connection has been diminishing. People are becoming friends over the internet but they don’t even know each other in person, these types of things are disconnecting the young generation with the society as a whole. Further, privacy is somehow on risk these days, there is a lot of data which has been on risk as the internet stores a lot of information. A rare mistake can lose this data and the information can be hacked very easily. As mentioned above, there is no job security as AI, advancing automation, etc. are taking over all the human tasks.

No doubt, our lives are sorted more than ever and it is all possible due to technological advancements. There is much more to this advancement. There are positive as well as negative aspects of technology in our society, however, it has changed the lifestyle of human beings. Technology has brought many challenges that should be addressed but our lives are more interconnected. As we move forward to a great future, we have to consider and analyze the potential influences of technological development and also try to mitigate the risk that comes with it.
