Tamil actor Jayam Ravi announced on social media that he and his wife, Aarti Ravi, are divorcing after 15 years of marriage. They have two sons together. After months of speculation, the actor confirmed on Monday that the split is due to “personal reasons.”

Ravi shared two notes on X (formerly Twitter), captioned, “Grateful for your love and understanding. Jayam Ravi.” One note was in English, the other in Tamil. In the post, Ravi described life as a journey with various chapters and expressed his sadness in sharing this personal update.
He stated, “After deep thought and discussions, I’ve made the difficult decision to end my marriage with Aarti. This wasn’t a hasty decision but one made for personal reasons, and I believe it’s the best choice for everyone involved.”
Ravi also requested privacy, asking people not to speculate about his marriage, saying, “During this time, I kindly request you all to respect our privacy and that of our family members. Please avoid spreading rumors or making assumptions, and allow us to handle this matter privately.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to entertaining his fans, expressing gratitude for their ongoing support.
Speculation about their separation
In June, just days after their 15th wedding anniversary on June 4, Aarti removed all photos of herself with Ravi from Instagram. For those who don’t know, Aarti is the daughter of popular TV producer Sujatha Vijayakumar. Since their marriage in 2009, the couple has kept their relationship mostly private, so this move surprised fans. Aarti later shared a picture honoring Ravi’s debut film Jayam from 2003, briefly putting the rumors to rest.
Jayam Ravi was recently seen in Ponniyin Selvan: II, Iraivan, and Siren, and will soon star in Brother and Kadhalika Neramillai.
