Despite its blockbuster success at the box office, Ranbir Kapoor’s film Animal faced significant criticism due to certain scenes. Recently, actor Farhan Akhtar expressed his concerns about the movie, describing Ranbir’s character, Ranvijay, as highly problematic. He also criticized the growing trend of portraying lead characters as alpha males in films.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal will mark its one-year release anniversary soon, yet it continues to be a topic of discussion. The film, known for its controversial content, has faced criticism from various actors, including Javed Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap.

In a recent interview with Faye D’Souza, Farhan Akhtar shared his views on Animal. He said, “The film wasn’t special to me. It’s a film I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.” When asked if he would ever produce the film, Farhan firmly replied, “I can’t connect with this film. Ranbir’s character seemed very problematic to me, so I would never produce it.”

Thoughts on Alpha Male Characters: Earlier, Farhan had expressed his thoughts on the increasing trend of alpha male characters in modern cinema. He mentioned, “We all have the freedom to create the films we want. It’s up to the audience whether they like it or not. If someone tells me to make a film a certain way, I wouldn’t consider their opinion.”

Released in December 2023, Animal is set to have a second part titled Animal Park. Besides Ranbir Kapoor, the film also starred Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, and Bobby Deol in significant roles. Despite facing controversies, the film performed well at the box office.
