IndianOil Adani Ventures Limited, which was formerly known as Indian Oiltanking, is a joint venture owned by IndianOil Corporation and APSEZ. The company offers infrastructure-led terminalling services to the petrochemical, petroleum, and chemical companies in India. The company has been operational since 1996. Over the past 25+ years, it has evolved into an integrated service provider. Introducing Independent Terminalling Services:

IndianOil Adani Ventures is the first company to introduce the concept of independent terminalling in India. Terminalling services were mainly introduced for petroleum products. In this case, the operator does not own the product. Instead, they provide services to users on a common user basis. This business venture has allowed the Adani Group to enjoy enhanced business profitability.

The company has also mastered the concepts of ‘Build & Own’ (BO), ‘Build Own Operate’ (BOO), BOO & Transfer (BOOT), Operations & Maintenance of different third-party terminals in India. The joint venture is also the first in India to have set up a crude oil and petroleum products storage project inside IndianOil Corporation. This was done at Paradip on the east coast of India. The company itself built the entire offsite storage of crude and finished products.

The Renewable Energy Ventures:

IAVL has shown extraordinary capabilities in alternative fuel at its biogas plant. This was done in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, as a response to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas initiative for alternative fuel. This has helped India fulfil its power needs to a considerable extent. In addition, the company has undertaken various renewable energy projects. The IOT biogas plant started operating in 2012 as a 42.4 MW power plant. It has been supplying the Tamil Nadu Generation & Distribution Corporation since then.

The company was later repurposed to generate BioCNG. Since its inauguration, the plant’s biogas production has continuously increased. The biogas is produced from mixed feedstock like sugar, chicken litter, starch, and cow dung. The plant also produces high-nutrient compost as a by-product, which is marketed to Aishwaryam, an organic fertiliser company. The company also has a big role to play in increasing the Adani Group’s overall renewable capacity. It has also played its part in helping the conglomerate overcome the Adani crisis.
